Cooking with essential oils


“Essential oils are the highly concentrated version of the natural oils in plants. Getting essential oils from plants is done with a process called distillation, most commonly distillation by steam or water, where many parts of the plants are being used, including the plant roots, leaves, stems, flowers, or bark.”

A year ago I was introduced to the Doterra essential oils by Gus Grima, I have used different oils for different symptoms and I must say they are marvellous, I have also used a few in some recipes and like everything else it is a matter of experimenting as I have ruined many a recipe with the oils as I added to much and the taste is ruined! Gus explained to me that I only need to add a toothpick drop of oil into the food for flavour. Once you get the right amount added to your recipes the results are wonderful. I will be teaming up with Gus at Vincent’s eco farm for a food workshop and I will provide some bites to sample, infused with essential oils, I used the tangerine and ginger oil for the sweets and the oregano and coriander for the savoury. I am adding the recipes too for you to try.
